Heading for the north? Why not go one of the most famous states in the US—the sate of Georgia. This place is known for being one of the original 13 colonies that revolted against the British rule during the American Revolution. But more than that, this US state is also popular for its Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Do you know what? This railway is a heritage railroad in northern Georgia. It has been in operation since 1998, and still continuing to provide transportation service to both locals and tourists in Georgia.
The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway follows the line along the Toccoa river that is north of McCayville Georgia. It also runs along the former North Georgia Railroad and the Marietta. But aside from that, this heritage railroad also offers freight service in order to provide more service to the people.
The usual rail adventure lasts about 3 ½ hours for a 26 mile round trip. The travel starts in downtown Blue Ridge from the old depot. It heads to downtown McCaysville Georgia in just a few minutes. However, it only operates from March through December, on weekends until June 13 and daily until July. The train has its peak seasons beginning October—just in time for the yuletide season.
